About Me
My name is Jane Russell and having trained as a Photojournalist at Richmond College I have worked for the past 30 years in newspapers covering all aspects of photography.
I can take photos either on location or in the comfort of your own home, and even though I am based in Milton Keynes, I am prepared to travel. My images are artistic, fun and evocative, and I am able to blend into the background to capture candid shots as well as possessing great organisational skills for more formal shots.
My natural rapport with people enables me to put them at ease very quickly, and I have a very good eye for an unusual shot which brings the most ordinary picture to life, and I love to capture the spirit of the occasion.
Over the years my photographs have appeared in a variety of National newspapers, including The Daily Mail, The Times and the Independent. My images have also featured on national television news. I am always happy to discuss and accommodate your specific requirements and ideas.

My Experience
In 1983 I attended the NCTJ Photojournalism course at Richmond College, Sheffield. Having passed the 4 preliminary exams I was indentured at the Gazette in Milton Keynes, until I passed my NCE and was fully qualified. In 1995 I achieved the 'Highly commended' accolade at the Newspaper Society Awards for 'Photographer of The Year'.
30 years in the business have passed in the blink of an eye and has been spent working on newspapers in and around the Luton and MK areas. A large proportion of my time has been spent working in Luton, as it offers a huge cross section of incidents from school stories and golden weddings to protests, marches, murders and of course the Marsh Farm riots.
My Equipment
After much deliberation on leaving college I felt my trusty Chinnon would need an upgrade. Having tried out a gorgeous and totally indestructable black FM2, Nikon has always been my favoured choice of camera bodies and lenses.
As times have moved on I progressed from film cameras the FM2 and the F90x to my current camera the digital Nikon D4. Which also has the capacity to film short videos.
